Corporate Incident Management Plan Refresh and Training
University of York

The Challenge:
A recent audit had highlighted that the existing Corporate Incident Management Plan was unwieldy and out of date following Covid. Senior staff had not had any recent training in their roles and there was limited confidence in the effectiveness of arrangements given significant changes in staff.

Incident Ready Consulting’s role:

  • To review and fully refresh the existing Corporate Incident Response Plan.

  • To deliver training to all Incident Management team members.

  • To build exercises to rehearse the team’s response against key risk scenarios of concern.


 

The Methodology

  • Review existing plans.

  • Meet with key stakeholders to understand how incident response and coordination actually worked in practice, and what was working well.

  • Build an all hazards based plan focused on simple steps to raise the alarm, escalate to a core team, and support that team with role based action cards and supporting processes such as a standard incident meeting agenda.

  • Provide training to the Director on call “Silver team” and Executive team “Gold”.

  • Provide training to first responders and decision action loggist.

  • Design and deliver a series of exercises to validate the plan.
     


The Result

  • An updated and validated Corporate Incident Management Plan and a fully trained and confident Incident Management Team.
